The resurrection was not first invented centuries after Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul passes on an earlier account of Jesus' death, burial, resurrection, and appearances, and includes his own claimed encounter. Christians argue that this testimony and the Gospel accounts are best explained by a real resurrection. Historians do not unanimously accept that conclusion: evidence that people believed Jesus appeared is not automatically proof of a miracle.
